For approximately ten years now, Apple has been teasing an upcoming electric vehicle under the mysterious name “Project Titan.” They seemed very serious about competing in this market space that is quickly becoming more congested, by hiring pioneers of the industry like former Tesla Autopilot software developer Christopher “CJ” Moore. As recently as earlier this year the tech giant had released statements claiming that the EV project was still a go, and estimated the vehicle release year for 2028. In a breaking article today on Bloomberg however, it’s been made clear that this is no longer the case, and the ambitious project is being permanantely shelved. Apple has stated that the 2,000 person team behind “Project Titan” will now be moved to AI efforts within the company. These are rumored to include testing AI updates for Spotlight & Xcode. According to Bloomberg, some of this team will be let go of from Apple however.
